Description

We are Caramanna Friedberg LLP, a criminal defence law firm at 700 Bay Street in Toronto. Sal Caramanna and Matthew Friedberg founded the firm in 2002, and we take a team approach to every file. We defend clients facing criminal charges and regulatory offences in every Toronto courthouse and across Ontario, from the bail hearing to the Court of Appeal.

DUI and impaired driving defence in Toronto

We defend the full range of drinking and driving charges: operating a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol or drugs, over 80, care or control while impaired or over 80, and refusing or failing to provide a breath sample.

After a DUI charge in Toronto your licence is suspended for 90 days and your vehicle impounded for 7 days, before you ever see a courtroom. A conviction can add a fine, a driving prohibition, a remedial program, an ignition interlock device and a permanent criminal record.

Our approach

DUI offences are very technical. We look at how serious the allegation is, whether there was a collision, injury or property damage, and then at your rights under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms: right to counsel, delay, compelled statements and privacy.
