Description

I am Ian Paul, a criminal defence lawyer in Cornwall, Ontario. I have practised criminal law in Cornwall since 1995. Before that, from 1990 to 1994, I was a lawyer in the Office of the Judge Advocate General of the Canadian Forces.

Impaired driving defence in Cornwall

My practice focuses on criminal trials, sentencing hearings and bail hearings. I represent people charged with impaired driving offences, including over 80 and refusal charges, as well as offences of violence, property offences and drug offences. An impaired driving charge in Cornwall brings an immediate licence suspension and impoundment before the case reaches court, so it pays to get advice early.

What to expect

I offer a free consultation to talk through your charge and your options. I accept both Legal Aid certificates and private retainers. I aim to reply to messages within 24 to 48 hours, and you can call the office directly for anything urgent.

Every impaired driving case depends on its details: the reason for the stop, how the breath demand was made, the timing of the tests and whether you were able to speak to a lawyer. I review the disclosure carefully before giving advice on how to plead.

What I handle
