Impaired driving defence in Barrie

Impaired driving covers operating, or having care or control of, a vehicle while impaired by alcohol or drugs, or with a blood alcohol level of 80 mg in 100 ml of blood or more. It is also a criminal offence to refuse a valid breath, blood or drug recognition expert demand.

In Ontario, a first conviction for impaired driving, over 80 or refusing a breath sample means losing your licence for at least one year, subject to the early ignition interlock program, and a minimum fine of $1,000 to $2,000 depending on the circumstances. A second or later conviction brings mandatory jail and long driving prohibitions, and insurance premiums are likely to climb after any conviction. We review every stage of the investigation to protect your rights and look for defences.
